Your Therapist.

Skylar Naron (she/her) is passionate about helping people feel a renewed sense of pleasure and peace within their minds and bodies. Skylar works with relationships and individuals experiencing issues related to sex, shame, identity, body image, and intimacy. Skylar’s goal is to create a judgment free space where people can be honest about the challenges they are facing and leave feeling understood, taking with them tools to alleviate stress and suffering. She believes that clients are the experts in their lives and aspires to help them establish what is true and right within themselves.

Skylar lives in Austin, Texas with her partner, dog and cat. She loves spending time outdoors, being in the water, getting lost in a good book and doing anything that involves creativity. Her favorite part of meeting with people online is getting to see their pets as well. She values the comfort our furry friends bring us and welcomes them to join sessions if it’s helpful for the person.

Approach to Counseling.

Skylar enjoys working with couples who are polyamorous or are interested in exploring ethical non-monogamy. She has experience helping people who feel pain during sex, erectile disappointment, sexual performance anxiety, religious sexual shame, desire mismatch, and gender/ sexuality distress. Skylar is trained in responding to pregnancy/ infant loss as well as helping people achieve intimacy during pregnancy, after childbirth and in parenthood.

Through an integrative approach of existential therapy, IMAGO relationship therapy and Feminist Theory, Skylar empowers her clients to let go of negative thoughts patterns and toxic cultural messages in order to adopt new affirming beliefs about themselves. She believes in the healing power of centering breath, visualization, embodiment, and mindfulness practices. Skylar values connection, laughter, and authenticity between counselor and client. She prioritizes showing up as a real, genuine person clients can feel safe with.

Skylar holds a Master’s of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is currently accepting new private pay, online clients who are 18+. In an effort to make counseling more attainable, Skylar offers sliding scale options for those in financial need of $90 - $120 for 50 minute sessions.

Approach to counseling

For all varieties of sexual minorities including: kinksters, queer folkx, and non-monogamous relationship styles, Ren has spent most of her adult life studying and engaging with these communities; building a sex-positive and inclusive community. Renegade Sex + Kink Therapy is a safe space of acceptance for all to explore and learn about kinks, queer identities, and all forms of non-traditional lifestyles.

Ren works with a feminist theory lens which promotes personal agency, consent, and breaking away from rules or structures that are no longer fulfilling. She also takes an existential view which means each life is shaped by their own unique worldviews. What and how they experience it is important and real. The roles of consent and power will be explored. Ren typically uses imagery, metaphor, and narrative thinking to work with a variety of challenges. She also uses "parts work" which is a method that involves pulling apart and exploring the different pieces of personal identity and values.
